OatmealOatmeal has some fantastic nutritional qualities and you should definitely include it in a fat reducing
diet if you can. Oatmeal contains a lot of soluble fibre which helps reduce
blood cholesterol by flushing bad digestive acids out of your system. Not only is oatmeal high in fibre, but it is low in calories meaning that it will fill you up but not make you fat!
The best kind of oatmeal to consume is unsweetened and unflavoured. The flavoured oatmeal's are unfortunately loaded with sugar. If you have to sweeten your oatmeal add fruit (such as dried raisins) and perhaps a spoonful of honey.
Olive oilCertain fats are good for you and, in fact your body needs them. Olive oil is one of those "good" fats. It actually helps you burn fat and keeps your cholesterol down.
Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fat, a type of fat that researchers are finding provide a number of health benefits. You can of course cook with Olive oil, but it also makes a great base for salad dressings.
Whole GrainsCarbohydrates are an essential part of any diet, but to lose weight you should avoid processed carbohydrates as much as possible. Foods such as white breads, pastas, and white rice have all been processed in some way, which strips out the nutrients and fibre leaving you with a lot of starch. Whole Grain foods on the other hand have not been processed and contain the fibre and nutrients your body needs. It fills you up quicker than processed foods, and actually has fewer calories. Switch to whole grains if you want to lose weight!
Lean Cuts of MeatAssuming that you're not a vegetarian, meat is an important part of your diet for getting that protein you need. Remember, protein takes a lot more energy to digest than fat, so meat is a
good food for a fat loss diet. However, you should be sure to eat lean meats such as Turkey and Chicken, and limit the consumption of red meats only eating the leanest cuts when you include these in your diet.
By including the above foods in your weight loss diet, it will assist you in eating fewer calories and help you lose weight. Sensible food choices are the key to a calorie controlled diet.
